What a busy, busy weekend! But it was fun! I got to spend some time back home in Kentucky, racing in the Busch Series. The racing itself didn't turn out to be too fun. Travis Geisler and Buckshot Jones got together right in front of me, and their debris blew a hole through the nose of the Aaron's Dream Machine. Buckshot's a good friend of mine. He's raced my #100 Cup Series car a time or two. He's a smart man, and I hated to see that happen to him. I am so glad that he's okay after inhaling so much smoke. I hope he has a speedy recovery, and gets to spend some time relaxing at home.
Because I was in Kentucky, I had to miss the Father's Day activities that MRO had planned back in Michigan. Poor Macy wanted to participate so badly on Saturday, so I asked Brendan Gaughan if he would play substitute father. Brendan's great with kids! He's got several nieces and nephews that he likes to play around with. So he stepped in. Macy was so excited! She told me all about it! It was a great time for her! MRO does so much for the NASCAR community, and we're so fortunate to have them.
As I already said, the Cup race went well with the NAPA Auto Parts Chevy coming in 10th. That's the kind of momentum we need, and I can't wait for next week's race! Road courses are so much different from what we normally run. I'm up for the challenge.
Happy Father's Day to all the fathers out there! Enjoy the week, and I'll see you at the races!
